Volunteer/ Internship Opportunity

Description

Residential Treatment Volunteer

Interact with children in our residential treatment programs. Duties may include playing games, reading books, helping with homework, etc. Children are between 5 and 17 years old. 

Volunteer Office Assistant

 Help with filing, data entry, copying or computer work.

Facility Maintenance Volunteer

 Duties include helping with groundskeeping

Achievement Academy Volunteer

Interact with children in our Achievement Academy programs. The Achievement Academy provides after school programming to children in the Cedar Rapids area. Duties may include playing games, reading books, helping with homework, etc. Children are between 5 and 17 years old.

Jane Boyd Tutor Tutor elementary and middle school students. Tutoring sessions occur Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 6:15pm. Volunteers may select to donate their time on one or more days.
Harambee House Clothing Closet  Assist in organizing local clothing closet. Assist families in that come to the clothing closet in finding needed items and sizes. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 2:00 until 4:00pm.

Finance Internship

Great opportunity for a volunteer to gain experience in various aspects of finance for a non-profit.  Hours are flexible during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Volunteer-Therapeutic Recreation Internship

Our Recreation Department has an opportunity for a 12 to 14-week volunteer internship, to meet the academic requirements for Therapeutic Recreation students. Students will learn the basics of Therapeutic Recreation (assessments, planning, implementation, documentation and evaluation). Students will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of a variety of social, emotional and psychological impairments during this internship experience.

General Internship

A limited number of undergraduate and graduate internships are available at many of our sites.  We are willing to customize your internship to fit college course requirements and i professional interests of the intern.  Internships are available in many of our programs, including residential treatment and our Achievement Academy.

General Volunteer

 Duties include working with children in various programs (helping with homework, etc.), one-day volunteer projects, etc.
