Four Oaks Program earns distinction
(Dubuque, IA) The Iowa Department of Management has notified Four Oaks that its Parents as Teachers program in Dubuque County has earned the Iowa Family Support Credential, becoming just the seventh Iowa program to earn the distinction. The Iowa Family Support Credential is awarded to family support and parent education programs that are validated through an external evaluation to be in substantial adherence to the Iowa Family Support Standards.
The Iowa Family Support Standards are based on the most up-to-date, evidence-based practice in the family support field. Adherence to the standards indicates that the program is providing high quality services that will result in positive outcomes for young children and their families. The Four Oaks Parents as Teachers program was involved in a crosswalk of the Council on Accreditation and Iowa Family Support Standards and was found to have adhered to all 104 Iowa Family Support Standards. The Iowa Family Support Credential is valid for five years.
The Four Oaks Parents as Teachers Program provides family support and parent education services to over 242 families a year in Dubuque County. The program receives funding from the Dubuque County Early Childhood Iowa and the Dubuque Community School District. Four Oaks is one of the state’s largest child welfare, juvenile justice and behavioral health agencies. Four Oaks and its affiliates serve more than 14,000 children and families in all 99 Iowa counties.
