06/08/10  Four Oaks Golf Classic Sponsored by Lil' Drug Store Products
Cedar Rapids - One of the area’s premier golfing events, the Four Oaks Golf Classic sponsored by Lil’ Drug Store Products, is taking reservations for the Monday, June 14 outing. There are two shotgun starting times, 7:45 a.m. and 1 p.m for the event that will be held at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.
 
Cost for the event is $250 per person ($1,000 per foursome). The price includes green fees, golf cart, breakfast, lunch and the evening banquet. 
 
Organizers report that in past years, the number of requests for participation has exceeded the number of available spots. With space being limited, golfers are encouraged to register soon.
 
Reservations may be made online at www.fouroaks.org or by contacting Margie Connors-Boe at Four Oaks, (319) 784-2012.
 
Proceeds from the golf outing, which is in its 17th year, will benefit the Achievement Academy at the Four Oaks Dummermuth Intergenerational Center.
 
In addition to the Lil’ Drug Store Products sponsorship, elite sponsors are the ESCO Group, Holmes Murphy and Mercy Medical Center.
 
Four Oaks, which provides help to 14,000 children and families each year, carries out its mission to “assure children become successful adults” by providing holistic prevention, intervention, and treatment programs and services.

05/11/10  GE Capital Voluteers at Four Oaks

For this year’s local Global Community Day, GE Capital volunteers will partner with Four Oaks, a child welfare and juvenile justice agency, at select locations around the city. These activities will take place for two weeks starting Monday May 10th. GE Capital will be at Four Oaks Smith Center installing dugouts for the ball field, landscaping, general maintenance and cleaning. The project also includes activities at “The Bridge – the Dummermuth Intergenerational Center” with landscaping & painting and more landscaping at Four Oaks affiliate; the Affordable Housing Network’s Cedar Valley Apartments. 
 
“GE Capital has shown such great business leadership with this project. We are thrilled with their participation that will ultimately help so many at-risk children and families in this community,” said Liz Mathis, Four Oaks Chief Information Officer.
 
Ed Faulstick, Managing Director of GE Capital Cedar Rapids said, “Each year we try to focus our GE Volunteer team’s efforts on projects that have a direct impact on the needs of our community. Our partnering with Four Oaks this year recognizes the value that organization brings into the community and will hopefully enhance it’s impact,” said Ed Faulstick, Managing Director of GE Capital Cedar Rapids.
 
For the seventh straight year, GE Volunteers will launch Global Community Days. On behalf of this effort, thousands of GE employees and retirees from around the world will participate in service projects covering a variety of local issues such as education, community development, health and the environment. Crossing six continents and all GE businesses, this year hundreds of community service projects will serve tens of thousands of people in need.
 
“GE Global Community Days, provide an opportunity for all of GE’s people to lend a hand through a variety of service projects that make a positive impact on the communities where we live and work” said Bob Corcoran, vice president of GE Corporate Citizenship.
 
GE Volunteers – a group of GE employees and retirees – work to improve their local communities by donating their time and money in community-enhancement projects.   Today, there are more than 175 GE Volunteer Councils located in over 45 countries around the world, each responsible for mobilizing volunteers around serious issues facing their communities.

11/23/09  Foster Children to Benefit from Four Oaks & Iowa KidsNet Grant

November 23, 2009, Cedar Rapids – Four Oaks Family and Children’s Services, on behalf of Iowa KidsNet,  has been awarded a three-year Family Connections demonstration grant from the Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families’ Children's Bureau. The $600,000 grant is authorized by the Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008.

11/14/09  WalMart Supports Four Oaks with Asperger's Grant

Cedar Rapids- Children with a type of Autism, called Asperger’s Syndrome will get some help, thanks to the Walmart State Giving Program. Walmart has granted the Four Oaks Asperger’s Program $28,000 through a grant, designed to help children who have difficulty understanding and communicating with family, friends and classmates. Four Oaks will use the funding to support curriculum, special computers and software for the one-of-a-kind Asperger’s program.

10/19/09  Four Oaks receives Berthel Fisher funding
 
(Cedar Rapids) Four Oaks was one of three local organizations to receive a financial boost for flood recovery from Berthel Fisher & Company, a financial services firm based in Cedar Rapids. Tom Berthel, President & CEO of Berthel Fisher & Company, presented the $30,000 flood recovery checks at Theatre Cedar Rapids on October 8. 
 
The organizations, each of which received $10,000, will use the funds to help develop local programs and rebuild facilities hit hard by the Flood of 2008.
 
Recipients of funds from the Berthel Fisher 2008 Flood Relief Non-Endowed Donor-Advised Fund held at the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation are: Four Oaks, Theatre Cedar Rapids, and the St Luke’s Child Protection Center.

(Cedar Rapids, Iowa)—The 15th Annual Wendy’s Four Oaks Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Cedar Rapids Country Club. This is Four Oaks’ major annual fund raising event to benefit the children and families served by Four Oaks. The Golf Classic has raised over $1,000,000 since the event began 15 years ago.

12/27/07  Four Oaks Asperger's Program-A New Pilot Treatment Program for Children with Asperger's

(Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Iowa—A new pilot program featuring individually tailored therapies for children with Asperger's syndrome has been launched in conjunction with a fund raising campaign by Four Oaks. The new pilot program will begin treating children from the Cedar Rapids area diagnosed with Asperger's starting January 7, 2008. Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism, is a disorder that typically affects children with average to above-average intelligence starting at early age. Its exact cause is not known.

(Cedar Rapids, Iowa) – Mike Zieser was awarded the Four Oaks James L. Hoel Memorial Award at the annual dinner held November 14. It is the highest agency honor that staff members may receive. The James L. Hoel Memorial Award is given in recognition of an outstanding Four Oaks staff member who is dedicated to helping children and families.
