Courageous Conversations Book Club
Four Oaks is ahead of the curve when it comes to implementing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts into the Enterprise. Using innovative and Evidence-Based Practices, the infusion of DEI throughout the agency makes strides to ensure our clients and employees have a well-rounded and positive experience while engaged in our services or in our workplace.
The Four Oaks DEI Initiatives include a Large Group “Stand Up” Committee that meets once a month to discuss agency matters, and move toward change. There are also Small Group Committees that delve deeper into issues like education, policies and procedures, and trainings. The Stand Up Newsletter is sent to all employees once a month to provide education and information about the latest DEI happenings in the Enterprise and elsewhere in the world.
The DEI Team introduced a Courageous Conversations Book Club as a new DEI initiative at the Enterprise. Each month, a book is selected and a Courageous Conversation is held three weeks later to discuss the book and related topics. All are invited to participate, and the conversation is productive and full of information that can be used daily as we work with children and families. The book club has done a great job of connecting different walks of life throughout the agency, and celebrating our differences.
Four Oaks will continue to support DEI initiatives throughout the Enterprise and we are proud of the strides we are making to ensure that all children, family, and staff feel welcomed and supported no matter how they identify.
